Sonia Delaunay (1885–1979) was one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. Living Art comprises almost 200 objects, including textiles, furniture, books, and mosaics, reflecting Delaunay’s kaleidoscopic output through all periods of her career from the early Parisian avant-garde of the 1910s to the spirited 1970s.
The largest retrospective ever devoted to the artist, ‘Toshiko Takaezu: Worlds Within’ features approximately 200 works in ceramics, weaving, painting, bronze casting, and printmaking, spanning six decades of Takaezu’s prolific career.

Highlighting thirty years of artmaking dedicated to the Black experience in America, "Sonya Clark: We Are Each Other" is the first comprehensive survey of the communal art projects that form the heart of the artist’s pioneering creative practice. Accompanied by a selection of Clark’s photographs, prints, and sculpture, the exhibition features five of Clark’s large-scale, collaborative projects, including her barrier-breaking "The Hair Craft Project" (2014) and the ongoing performance, "Unraveling."
Celebrating AAPI month, 3.1 Phillip Lim presents Crafting Selfhood, an exhibition of Asian American female identifying artists and designers from May 1-23. Organized by Karen Wong and Lora Appleton, the exhibition assembles a myriad of stunning ceramics and sculptural objects on display at the 3.1 Phillip Lim flagship at 48 Great Jones Street.

The Union Square Partnership (USP) is pleased to present the 4th Annual 14th Street Mural in Union Square: a 7,500 SF asphalt mural that will be installed over five days with the help of community partners and volunteers. Jean and Oliver Pelle, founders of PELLE, present their first-ever collection with Calico Wallpaper inspired by the rich textures of the South Korean landscape cultivated by Jean’s childhood memories.

This exhibition will take visitors through the work of copywriter Miyuki Tokunaga, who is responsible for the clever yet concise phrases that have become synonymous with MUJI’s beloved product tags over the years. The installation celebrates MUJI’s iconic minimalist packaging and spotlights the brand’s Copywriting Atelier, which, under the direction of Tokunaga, formulates the narratives behind each product in MUJI’s own unique language.
During NYCxDesign week, the lighting and furniture design studio MATERIA will present its inaugural exhibition in the MATERI(A)RT series, TRACES, by mixed media artist Malkia Williams. Brazilian designer Fernando Mendes launches a new handcrafted furniture collection, available exclusively at Espasso. The collection honors friends and neighbors of his workshop, located in Vale das Videiras, in the mountains surrounding Rio de Janeiro.
The exhibit opening will be celebrated on May 16th with a cocktail reception at Espasso. The gallery will be open for visits Monday through Friday from 10am to 6pm, or by appointment.
