Borrowed Earth Collaborative celebrates our inviolable connection to nature and attempts to recreate the joy found in peaceful coexistence. Conceptualized by Ruchika Grover, the collaborative is a guided journey into transforming natural materials into works of architectural art. Borrowed Earth presents its own expression in stone, in the form of four series – Architectonic, Impressions, Barococo & Aurum – emphasizing the (im)perfection and the asymmetry that defines the material.
The exhibition is set with the premise that stone carries the geological histories through its texture, striations and materiality. Thereby, in essence, Borrowed Earth — through its designs and craftsmanship — brings the Earth’s (Past) biography for our (present), everyday surroundings.
At the heart of the exhibition is the Earth Mural, which represents its movements, elements and surfaces and also the striking pieces from the collaboration with Rebecca Minkoff. The collaboration brings together Rebecca’s aesthetic textures and Borrowed Earth’s craftsmanship.
The Past Is Now Present exhibition marks the official launch of Borrowed Earth in the tri-state area, exclusively through ABC Stone. The exhibition is set with the premise that stone carries geological histories through its texture, striations, and materiality.
