Sneak Preview! CIRCULAR DESIGN GLOSSARY for Furniture & Furnishings

05/10/2022
11:00 am - 6:00 pm

What does ‘close the loop’ really mean? What are ’embedded impacts’? How does ‘biodesign’ differ from ‘biomimicry’?

Join us at this open house for a sneak preview of our upcoming CIRCULAR DESIGN GLOSSARY: Furniture & Furnishings.

The very first step to a ‘circular future’ is accessible information and awareness. In this light, the glossary — a collaborative effort of mebl | Transforming Furniture, the Sustainable Furnishings Council and SOMA Studio Milano — aims to improve understanding of design dimensions of the circular economy, with a particular & practical focus on furniture and furnishings.

The glossary will offer clear definitions of 42 key concepts, paired with tangible, inspiring illustrations. Each concept is paired with an example of an established or emerging designer/brand working toward the transition to a circular economy. Posters previewing several of the definitions will be on display, and we’ll be there to talk shop!

We are grateful for the invitation to join forces with our amazing colleagues Sabai Design, Cambium Carbon and Floorfound in this pop-up, dedicated to displaying the beauty and potential of the circular economy to revitalize the furniture industry. Sabai will showcase its commitment to regeneration and revitalization through two innovative partnerships — with Cambium Carbon, to source urban wood, and with Floorfound, to enable the refurbishment and resale of furniture.
