Shapes in the Echo of Time is an exhibition centered around director Andrea Marini’s short film which creatively traces the inception of architect Achille Salvagni’s design concepts through to the completed works. Told from the perspective of Salvagni’s imagination, Marini set out to crystalize the technical precision in Salvagni’s designs and the historical elements woven throughout his furniture. The short features five of Salvagni’s most significant works: Emerald (table) Circeo (screen) Hera (cabinet) Divo (standing lamp) and Spider (chandelier) and focuses on how the genesis of an idea rapidly spirals into a concept that becomes the starting point of a new work. The film further explores the evolution of the process, where the inspiration comes from and how Salvagni takes a small detail and reimagines it to deliver a functional, sculptural object.
