Nordic Food and Light Design Event with Friends of NYCxDESIGN

Two unique Finnish design companies, Fiskars and Saas Instruments, will offer a dive into the latest Nordic food and light design at the beautiful premises of the Consulate’s residence of Finland in New York.

– Things look a bit different up here in the North. For us, light is a precious gift from nature, our source of wellbeing. To design light is to design how we interact with one another, states Håkan Langstedt, Saas Instrument’s CEO.

The one-evening reception consists of natural lights that emphasize the beauty of the served food created with award-winning cooking products with timeless, functional design. Finland is situated between East and West, bordering Sweden, Norway, and Russia by land and Estonia by sea. The concept is inspired by the love and passion for food, nature, relaxation, and warmth, which we experience up North at 60° latitude.

– Healthy and pure food from the North has a strong mental link to Fiskars design. The products are heavily influenced by Nordic nature and quality of life, as well as sustainability, says Fiskars’ creative director Petteri Masalin.

Mr Langstedt and Mr Masalin will be present in the evening.
