CURRENT: Tides of Contemporary Design

Current presents fifteen independent artists and designers based along the Brooklyn waterfront whose works represent the tides of contemporary design as part of the NYCxDesign Festival.

Designers and studios to be featured include: Aaron Scott Design, Avo, BREAKFAST, Chapter & Verse, Evan Hughes Studio, J McDonald, James Dieter, Jason Krugman, Jen Lewin, Marcus Vinícius De Paula, Mark Jupiter, Natalia Landowska, River Valadez, William Coggin, and Work at Hand.

This week-long show, curated and organized by Marcus De Paula and Tess De Paula, includes works produced in a range of techniques and materials that forge a new path between contemporary fine art and contemporary design – challenging the confines of these categorizations. Many works are one of a kind, and fabricated by the artists themselves.

Current aims to present a cross-sectional snapshot of these designers’ evolving practices – some emerging, others established with dozens of past exhibitions worldwide – collectively representing this moment in contemporary design.
