La Tiendita de Las Islas presents works from the new Diaspora Design Movement. Opening mid NYCxDESIGN week with a design symposium at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, presenting the work of design laboratories focused on building new creative solidarity economies. Guest presenters will include the Casa Tereques Incubator from Santurce, PR, representing over a dozen home goods and designers, Piragua Space NYC representing NYC clothing, textile and furniture designers and La Sala de Pepe representing graphic designers and new media generators.. A series of Pop-Up Tienditas will be held from the 20-28th in numerous Loisaida locations, culminating in a major Mercado at The Loisaida Street Fair on Avenue C, May 28th
