CURRENT: Tides of Contemporary Design

These designers forge a new path between fine art and contemporary design, challenging the confines of these categories through the unexpected use of materials and sculptural forms. All works are one of a kind and fabricated by the artists themselves.
Sculptor Marcus De Paula and his partner Tess De Paula organized the first CURRENT show in 2021 to showcase designers who have developed tremendous craftsmanship to bring their vision to life.
They also aim to build community among those designers who know firsthand the challenges of producing sculptural works in New York, sourcing stone in a pandemic, transporting heavy work in a taxi, and navigating walk-up studios, all in the name of art.
