FLOX Studio / Community Cartographies: Mapping Your Community of Practice

Community Cartographies: Mapping Your Community of Practice is a 90 minute workshop with Sloan Leo, Faculty at SVA DSI, artist and Founder/CEO of FLOX Studio. This workshop is intended for curious designers who are committed or interested in understanding how designers can accelerate justice, sustainability and equity. During the workshop, Sloan Leo will share insights about emerging trends in Community Design and create space for community building. Participants will be invited to create three maps (1) a map of their community (2) a map of their practice and (3) a map of interventions for evolving their practice. Participants can be prepared by (1) reflecting on what was the most catalytic news – the most impactful experience in their community since the start of the pandemic (i.e. the George Floyd protest, the climate crisis, etc.) and (2) making sure they have access to paper and sketching tools.
