Artemest, the online destination for Italian craftsmanship and design, presents WEST CHELSEA by Dimorestudio at Artemest Galleria. The architecture and interior design studio founded in 2003 by Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci, curates a museum-like exhibition, featuring an exclusive capsule collection of eleven one-of-a-kind furniture pieces designed by Dimorestudio and sold exclusively on Artemest, as well as a curated selection of Artemest pieces hand-picked by the Milan-based studio.
The mood of the exhibition is inspired by the colours and finishes of the America of the 1960s and 1970s, and the references for the project are drawn from billy wilder’s 1960 movie “the Apartment” and Colin Higgins’s 1980 movie “Nine to Five”.
For WEST CHELSEA, Dimorestudio has transformed the gallery shell: walls and ceilings are painted in a warm olive-green hue, while the floor is completely covered with the ‘dacha’ carpet by Pierre Frey for Dimorestudio, featuring an iconic pattern of the Milanese studio.
The exhibition also comprises a space curated by Dimorestudio using uniquely high-craftsmanship objects and furnishings from Artemest. Here, the workspace concept is made more evident by Dimorestudio curated selection of iconic items of Italian industrial design, including pieces by BBB Italia, Cassina, Cappellini, Driade, la Permanente Mobili Cantù, Martinelli Luce, Matrix International, Tecno Spa, Tato, and Ynterior. The installation features artworks by a selection of Artemest artists, too, including sculptures by Benedetto Ferraro, tapestry by Caterina Frongia, paintings by Maurizia Carantani, and photographs by Luca Capuano.
Art, collecting, and design icons are the three concepts that best describe Dimorestudio’s curatorship for the Artemest Galleria and that underscore what Artemest itself stands for.
